We’re thrilled to offer Lindy Hop classes, taught by Jana Jedlovska and Zoey Gould! Jana and Zoey learned from many original swing dancers and bring more than 25 years of Lindy Hop experience.
What is Lindy Hop?
Lindy Hop is a Black American street dance that originated in Harlem, New York, in the late 1920s. Closely related to other African American Street Dances including Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, and Disco, Lindy Hop dominated dance halls throughout the swing era and continues to be popular today. It’s a playful, flowing style that closely reflects the music.
Lindy Hop is a partnered social dance but you don’t need to bring your own partner. We rotate during the class so that you have a chance to meet and dance with different people. No experience or partner are required for Level 1.0.

Beginner Level 1.0 Lindy Hop
This course will run again in September. In the meantime, we’re available for private lessons.
Level 1.5 Lindy Hop
For students with some basic Lindy Hop experience who want to take their dancing to the next level. Prerequisites include some experience with swingouts and 8-count Lindy Hop. No partner required.
- Dates: April 26, May 3, May 10, May 24, May 31, and June 7 (6 classes)
- Time: Sundays 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
- Location: 527 Bloor Street West (Bloor and Bathurst)
- Cost:
- Until April 12: $135 ($120 concession price*)
- After April 12: $155 ($140 concession price*)

Level 2.0 Lindy Hop
Intermediate course mixing 6- and 8-count Lindy Hop and Charleston at various tempos. Students in this level should be comfortable with 8-count basics including swingouts, Lindy circle, and side-by-side Charleston.
No partner required. Prerequisites include swingouts, Lindy Circle, and side-by-side Charleston on the social dance floor. Minimum 1-year of social dancing experience is also required.

- Time: Sundays 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Course Combo – Lindy Hop Level 1.5 + Level 2.0
Can’t get enough? Sign up for both classes and give your happy feet a chance to dance! Prerequisites include swingouts, Lindy Circle, and side-by-side Charleston on the social dance floor. Minimum 1-year of social dancing experience is also required. No partner required.
